Edward J. and Sue Wilby McCarty Endowed Geology Honors Scholarship
The purpose of this fund is to provide a scholarship for a student majoring in Geology. Terms are as follows: 1) Student must be enrolled in the Honors College, or be eligible for enrollment in terms of grades and test scores, and must major in Geology. 2) As part of the selection process, the applicant must submit a letter to the Geology faculty and to the Honors College (as appropriate), describing their interest in a career in Geology. 3) The selection of the scholarship will be made by the Geology faculty, in a manner determined by the faculty. 4) The student must maintain a 3.2 GPA (overall), with a 3.35 GPA in geology. 5) The student must complete the following courses: Calculus (10 hours), Physics with Calculus, Applied Statistics, and one course in either Management or Organization Theory. 6) A senior thesis is required and will be developed with the direction of a Ph.D. Geology faculty member. See fund agreement for “exceptions and clarifications.” This scholarship should be limited to $2,000.00 per year per recipient.
