CIEF Polymer Science and Engineering Scholarship Endowment

The purpose of the Endowment is to provide annual scholarships, as named and described herein, for undergraduates who: i. Successfully completed their freshman years, and are classified as a sophomore, junior, and/or senior, ii. Are pursuing a degree in any major in the School of Polymer Science and Engineering, iii. Are United States citizens or permanent residents who desire to remain in the United States upon graduation, iv. Preference will be given to students who demonstrate a strong desire to remain in the Polymer and Coatings industry following graduation with a strong focus in the coatings sciences, and/or be employed in the paint and coatings industry after graduation, or continue studies in polymer science on a graduate level at USM, and v. Preference will be given to students with financial need and/or have a minimum 3.0 GPA. Annually the Foundation shall award the following scholarships, as described more fully in the attached Exhibit A, to undergraduates selected by the Committee (described below) meeting the above qualifications: i. CIEF – Joseph A. Vasta Memorial Scholarship (Up to two annual scholarships), ii. CIEF – A.L. Hendry Memorial Scholarship (Up to two annual scholarships), iii. CIEF – Sidney Lauren Memorial Scholarship (Up to four annual scholarships), and iv. CIEF – Frank Borrelle Leadership Scholarship (Up to four annual scholarships).
