Major General Rexford H. Dettre, Jr. “Duty – Honor – Country” Leadership - Center for Military Veterans, Service Members and Families Scholarship

The purpose of this scholarship is to provide a one-time scholarship (applicable to Fall and Spring Semester attendance) for an eligible University of Southern Mississippi Student who is a Military Veteran, Active Duty Service Member (to include National Guard and Reserve Component). To be eligible for this scholarship, the student must be enrolled as an undergraduate or graduate student in good standing at the University of Southern Mississippi. In honor of the scholarship namesake, eligible students must have demonstrated a commitment to the values of Duty, Honor and Country along with a resolute desire of Service to others. Consideration will be given to proven leadership experience, cumulative Grade Point Average, campus and community service. Student must present release from military service documents (DD-214) or other proof of scholarship eligibility. Student must also submit (as part of the USM Foundation GO Scholarship Application Process) a single page double-spaced essay describing the meaning of “Duty, Honor and Country” as it applies to their respective lives.
